Work to start on Beacon war memorial dome repairs

Advertiser 17 Jun 10

Work is to get underway next week to repair an Aldridge landmark commemorating local servicemen and women who lost their lives during the First World War after it was attacked by vandals earlier this year.

Thieves struck Barr Beacon war memorial back in March, stripping copper off the domed roof of the stone monument, which lies on a 240-acre site off Beacon Road.

alfie says:

I am sure we will see pictures of smiling councillors and council officials proudly showing off the newly repaired monument.

However I won’t give it long before we have the usual sad face picture following further damage inflicted on this lovely memorial.

The worthless scum who did this couldn’t careless its a war memorial commemorating war heroes but just a chance to make a few quid.

What a sad sad world we now have to live in.
