WM Police recruits wait three years

One thousand new police recruits in the West Midlands will have to wait even longer for a job as the force’s recruitment freeze, put in place in June, is extended by another year.

Many of the would-be-policemen and women – 700 of whom have passed all parts of their training assessments – have already been waiting for between 18 months and two years. Some recruits claim to have been waiting for even evening longer – up to three years.
