Willenhall boy racer banned for three years

A Willenhall teenager has been banned from driving for three years and ordered to serve 200 hours of community service after being involved in an accident at a notorious racing location in Reedswood Way.

Liam Preston, aged 19, of Aberford Close, Willenhall, was racing a Ford Fiesta around the Sainsbury’s car park on 18 November last year. Walsall Magistrates Court heard that the Fiesta was involved in collision with a van and a Citroen Saxo driven by a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons. The two cars were racing at speeds of up to 50mph and a female passenger suffered bruising.

Preston, who had only held a driving license for eight weeks, was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
