Have you stopped leaping around, yet?

Saturday’s visit of Colchester followed what’s said to have been yet another insipid, and fruitless, away performance when we visited Leyton Orient so hope for a win against high-flying opponents wasn’t high. Our home record under Hutch is pathetic to say the least – five wins in eighteen league games going into this game – and even when we’ve managed a victory we’ve made our way out of Bescot wondering exactly how we did it...

A 12 year old girl from the UK was recently raped and murdered by a guy she met on Facebook. He pretended to be a 17 year old boy, then when she went to meet him he pretended to be the boy’s dad. Then raped and murdered her. Not nice, but this shit is bound to happen...

“I am not a racist/sexist/ageist/homophobic but” (delete as necessary), you can bet your life and immortal soul that they are. The societal and religious intolerant are always very keen to present a public display of equanimity and will smile benignly, secure in a twisted faith and will consider any interlocutor with an opposing opinion to be a moron because, oh dear, you just don’t understand...

I have only two things to say to the people of Brownhills. Firstly, why is your town called Brownhills when it is not brown and lacks hills? Secondly, I’m sorry but I don’t think that the Staffordshire Hoard should stay in your town. I know that the last point will anger those in your community who are doing their best to improve an area which over the years has been ignored and let run down, but it’s not because you can’t be trusted, its because we can’t trust those who would have control over it...

More illegal motorbike use – this time, somewhat unusually, on a Sunday afternoon in one of the busiest bits of Cannock Chase. These particular muppets came off a forest track from the Birches Valley direction...

Is attacking football really the answer?
Darlo Saddler Walsall Web-Fans 16 Mar 10
A constant topic of conversation among Saddlers fans over the last couple of seasons has been the way in which our home attendances have slumped badly and what the reasons for this phenomenon might be. Several theories have been mooted, from the unpopularity of the current regime to the cost of admission to the largely tedious football we've had to endure. We go to the match in the hope of seeing our team score a few goals with the logical outcome of a victory if all goes well so, if we play attacking, exciting football – remember that? – goals will flow and the stayaway fans will return. It's that simple. Or is it?

Just enough education to perform
The Plastic Hippo 15 Mar 10
The Hippo has never been an avid or regular reader of The Sun. However, the odd discarded copy is sometimes blown across Hatherton Lake and a headline or two will occasionally catch the eye. Setting aside the insensitive “Gotcha” splash over the sinking of the Belgrano, the poisonous “Truth” headline perpetrated by Kelvin MacKenzie following the Hillsborough disaster and a reputation for sexism, homophobia, jingoism and scant regard for facts, the sub-editors at the paper who write the headlines do a very good job...
