Streetly man attacked in car key robbery
The YamYam 28 Jan 10
A group of five masked men kicked down the front door of a house in Kingscroft Close, Streetly, around 6:30am on Tuesday 26 January, attacked a 57-year-old man and stole his high-value Audi.

The robbers beat the victim and he suffered a broken toe and cuts and bruises during his ordeal. Also in the house were the man's wife and two children, who were unharmed during the incident.

Detective sergeant Rob Bastin from Walsall Police robbery team said: "The family were all just getting ready for the day ahead when these men forced their way into their home.

"It was a terrifying ordeal for the father, as well as his wife and children.

"Thankfully the man's injuries were not too severe but the violence and nature of this attack does give us cause for concern.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area, maybe making their way to work, on Tuesday morning and saw anything suspicious."

The gang left the scene in the silver Audi A4 RS4 Quattro, after the owner handed over the keys.

It was seen a short time later travelling, at speed, along Chester Road. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle and its direction of travel.

The car was recovered from the Erdington area on Tuesday evening.

Anyone with information to help the police investigation is urged to contact the robbery team at Walsall police station on 0845 113 5000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
