Walsall schools consider going it alone in academy scheme

Twelve schools in the Walsall area have expressed an interest in leaving the council’s control and becoming an academy under Government plans to revolutionise the education system.

The interested schools could be fast-tracked to academy status by September, stepping outside of local authority control, if legislation is passed…
