Walsall schools rebuild plan is frozen as government slashes funding

Plans to rebuild or refurbish six Walsall borough secondary schools as part of a multi-million pound revamp scheme have been frozen in a cost-cutting exercise by the Government.

Alumwell Business and Enterprise College, Frank F Harrison Engineering College, Joseph Leckie Community Technology College, Pool Hayes Arts and Community School, Shire Oak School and The Streetly School had hoped to update their school buildings as part of the national Building Schools for Future (BSF) programme.

All were in line for a share of a £100 million pot of cash to splash out on rebuilding or revamping existing school buildings…
