Walsall police workers win Walsall Hospice Turkey Trot
Workers from Walsall’s police stations, Suki Lally and Asha Paul, are celebrating their success as the biggest fundraisers for the Walsall Hospice Turkey Trot.

The Turkey Trot, which took place this February, was affected by this year’s harsh winter, but the runners and walkers who braved the weather have helped raised over £1,000 for the new Walsall Hospice. Runners were asked to collect sponsorship for the 5 km run, which if returned would enter them into a “Biggest Fundraiser Competition”.

The prize, a voucher to Cannock Chase’s GO APE high wire assault course, was won by colleagues and friends Suki Lally and Asha Paul from the West Midlands Police. Suki and Asha were sponsored by their colleagues at Willenhall, Darlaston, Brownhills and Bloxwich Police Stations, and also by the general public, to complete the Turkey Trot. The pair walked the 5km course on the 21st February, and raised £260 towards the £1.5 million target.
Walsall Hospice is due to open in February 2011, and will provide specialist care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
