Walsall internet super-highway connection

High-speed, fibre optic broadband connection is a step closer for Walsall, as BT announced the locations of the first connection boxes.

Telecommunication control boxes are to be installed in Lincoln Road, Green Lane, Sutton Road, The Crescent, Daw End Lane, Lichfield Road, Holden Crescent, Market Place, Bentley Drive, Remington Road, Bloxwich Lane and Pleck Road.

It is hoped that over 110,000 homes and businesses in the Black Country, Birmingham and Warwickshire will be connected by the summer of 2010. BT telephone exchanges covering Walsall, Leamore, Great Barr and Wednesbury will also be upgrade to super-fast fibre next year as part a £1.5billion plan to connect 10 million homes by 2012.
