Walsall Council leader challenged over closure jibe

I didn’t have the pleasure of hearing the leader of Walsall Council, Mike Bird, when he spoke yesterday on BBC WM’s Ed Doolan Show about the demise of Willenhall Leisure Centre. I understand he accused Willenhall councillors of not rising to his challenge earlier this year to come up with some ideas on how to save Willenhall Leisure Centre. He must know that that isn’t so.
All nine of Willenhall’s councillors; six Liberal Democrats and three Labour; have buried long standing political differences and worked together, along with user groups and officers, to identify ways of keeping the centre open.
