Vulnerable pupils fail Walsall test

The Stirrer 20 Apr 10

None of the children in the care of Walsall Council achieved five GCSE’s including English and Maths last year according to figures obtained by the opposition Labour group. They say the youngsters’ lives are being blighted by the failures of the borough’s education service…

michelle says:

I find this totally shocking and saddening. How can the most vulnerable being failed so badly? I know teachers work hard with this group but more money needs to be put into supporting the work so that these kids get the break they trully deserve.

themushroom says:

Not a good ad for private companies running public services
Meanwhile Tory councillor for education Rachael Walker says the results are ‘disappointing but there is the determination there.’
Don’t give the children excuses, don’t even give them your determination, give them a decent education!!

Col Sanders says:

I was a child in care in Walsall and achieved 9 GCSE’s, i also know one other care leaver who achieved the same. This was 5/6 years ago, it disappoints me to hear this news. I can’t understand how this has happened….
