An attempted ram-raid on a Wednesbury school has ended in failure. Police were called to Wodensborough High School on Hydes Road at around 5.50am today as masked men drove a car through gates at the front of the school, and into the main reception entrance.
After failing to remove a flat screen television from the wall in the reception area, the bungling thieves made their escape when disturbed by a member of staff. The men jumped back into the car, a dark coloured new-shape Renault Megane, and sped from the scene empty handed.
Detective sergeant Samantha Jones from Wednesbury police station said: “There would have been people around at that time of the morning and hopefully would have seen this car leaving the scene… we imagine it would have had significant front-end damage from the burglary and we urge anyone who saw the vehicle in the area to contact us.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Wednesbury police station on 0845 113 5000.
