Sections of a major road linking Walsall with Birmingham and a busy motorway junction will be closed for essential repairs to a pedestrian crossing.

A footbridge across the A34 Walsall Road at Great Barr is being renovated and restrictions will be in place from March 7-11.

Northbound traffic will not be able to join the M6…

A raft of overnight road closures affecting traffic getting on and off the M6 will be in place as seven weeks of works costing £150,000 are carried out on a bridge in Great Barr.

Road closures on the A34 Birmingham Road — which will partially limit access to and from the M6 at Junction 7 overnight — will be in force from midnight to 6am between February 14 to 18 and March 7 to 11..

Restrictions have been in place between junctions 10 and eight to allow work on a £150 million scheme to open up the hard shoulder to traffic in rush hour and to introduce variable speed limits to ease congestion…

Months of misery on the M6 will end when narrow lanes and 50mph speed limits are removed in the next fortnight. Both sides between Junctions 8 and 10 near Walsall will return to normal by January 23.

Work will still continue to open up the fourth lane. But drivers will be forced off the M6 four times in the next fortnight due to roadworks…

Parts of the M6 through the Midlands will be closed overnight at various times in the next two weeks.

Work will be carried out on the southbound M6 between junctions ten at Walsall and eight, the M5 intercharge, as part of a congestion-tackling scheme allowing for drivers to use the hard shoulder.

The project will require the complete shutdown of the southbound carriageway between junctions ten and seven, at Great Barr, from 9.30pm to 5.30am next Wednesday and Thursday…

Motorists are being warned of traffic disruptions in Aldridge over the forthcoming week as major roadworks take place in Wharf Approach.

Essential road maintenance works started on Tuesday (January 4) as Walsall Council looks to strengthen the road pavement and provide a new running surface as part of its ongoing Carriageway Structural Maintenance Programme.

Traffic restrictions were coming into place on a major route in the Black Country today as a £1 million red route scheme was extended.

No-stopping rules were enforced on the A34 along All Saints Way in West Bromwich and Newton Road in Great Barr on October 4. Now the scheme will be rolled out along the major commuter route from the Scott Arms junction all the way to the motorway…

Walsall Council 22 Oct 10

Drivers are being warned to expect delays along the A454 Wolverhampton Road from this weekend while resurfacing work is carried out to bring the Red Route and Bus scheme towards completion.

The resurfacing will cover the eastbound stretch from the M6 Junction 10 to Bloxwich Lane in Walsall and will take place throughout the whole of Sunday 24 October 2010.

Work will then be carried out every evening from Monday 25 October until Thursday 28 October 2010.

Diversions will be in place and emergency vehicles will still be able to access Walsall’s Manor Hospital…
