More red routes planned for the Black Country have been shelved indefinitely after funding to develop the controversial jam-busting schemes was axed.
Councils will be able to keep the no-stopping routes they have and the ones that are already under construction. But there will be no more unless more government funding becomes available…

Traffic restrictions were coming into place on a major route in the Black Country today as a £1 million red route scheme was extended.
No-stopping rules were enforced on the A34 along All Saints Way in West Bromwich and Newton Road in Great Barr on October 4. Now the scheme will be rolled out along the major commuter route from the Scott Arms junction all the way to the motorway…

Drivers are being warned to expect delays along the A454 Wolverhampton Road from this weekend while resurfacing work is carried out to bring the Red Route and Bus scheme towards completion.
The resurfacing will cover the eastbound stretch from the M6 Junction 10 to Bloxwich Lane in Walsall and will take place throughout the whole of Sunday 24 October 2010.
Work will then be carried out every evening from Monday 25 October until Thursday 28 October 2010.
Diversions will be in place and emergency vehicles will still be able to access Walsall’s Manor Hospital…

The most significant section of works to Bloxwich High Street required by the change to a Red Route will begin soon, on Monday 26 July and will continue through the Summer holidays. The works which commence on the 26 will see the creation of a temporary diversion route for northbound traffic.
