Thousands of pounds have been spent upgrading security to protect the new police helicopter after the last one was destroyed in an arson attack. The cabin of the £4.3 million Eurocopter EC-135P2i was “extensively damaged” and two of the rotors broken in a major security breach at Elmdon airbase, near Sheldon, in June last year.
The new force helicopter, an identical replacement, is due to come into service in July…
