While Mark Lewis-Francis did not reach his expectations at the UK Championships and European Trials in Birmingham, several young Walsall athletes were gaining valuable experience at the event.
Ese Okoro, of Brownhills, made the 400m hurdles final, finishing sixth in a personal best of 59.18secs. She had earlier finished second in her heat in 59.52 behind eventual champion Perri Shakes-Drayton.
