Walsall has admitted chairman Jeff Bonser is staying away from the club because of his “negative” presence. The under-fire owner has stopped attending games after receiving abuse from fans at the Banks’s Stadium.

Speaking at a fans’ forum on Monday night, chief executive Stefan Gamble confirmed Bonser was keen not to add to a negative atmosphere at the struggling Saddlers…

Walsall are ready for talks with their unhappy fans after announcing a focus meeting. The Saddlers will hold a sit down on Monday January 17, after a turbulent season which saw manager Chris Hutchings sacked on Tuesday.

The club has been criticised for a lack of communication, with Gamble and chairman Jeff Bonser singled out…

Walsall ‘Til I Don’t

Worried Walsall fans have opened their hearts to reveal their pain at the Saddlers’ decline. They have taken the extraordinary step of producing a book of their grievances and sending it to club directors.

‘Walsall ‘Til I Don’t’ – in reference to the ‘Walsall ‘Til I Die’ effort Walsall Supporters’ Trust and the club published in 2008 – has been printed to raise their concerns.

The 30-page publication cost £100 to make and is made up of posts from upthesaddlers.com and also individual efforts from fans…

Chairman Jeff Bonser this week paid warm tribute to his fellow Walsall director Roy Whalley as the club announced a small profit for the last financial year.

A big factor in keeping Walsall afloat in the last 24 years has been the input of Whalley, a lifelong Saddlers fan who remains commercial director after stepping down as chief executive earlier this year…

Under-fire Walsall chairman Jeff Bonser loaned the club a staggering £546,652 in the last financial year, the Saddlers’ accounts show.

The club posted a profit of £5,000 last week but a further look at the annual report highlights the difficulties at the Banks’s Stadium. Their debt stands at £2.8m — up £135,000 — after they released their accounts for the year ending May 31 2010…

Questions remain unanswered and promises yet to be delivered at Walsall – the time for excuses is over.

The Saddlers’ plight has been one of their own making and no amount of apologies can justify their position.

Saturday’s shocking 4-1 defeat to Tranmere left manager Chris Hutchings’ job hanging by a thread with fans increasingly united in their belief he must go.

The team are in disarray on the pitch, a hotch-potch of a side who, on paper, should be well clear of danger…

Saddlers hit bottom of League One

Message for Jeff Bonser
We are sitting rock bottom of the League. Our record this season is, in all competitions, Played 12, Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 10. There were a total of less than 3,000 home fans at the game today, despite massive discounts to try and boost the gates.

Can you please get rid of Hutchings and O’Connor and their clueless tactics before relegation is inevitable?

Tom Lines When Saturday Comes 19 May 10

What kind of person is forcibly ejected from a football ground? Well, me actually. On the last Saturday of the season, during the second half of Walsall’s game against MK Dons, I was frogmarched out of the Banks’s stadium by five stewards as the police looked on. And the reason for this rather dramatic course of action? Ten minutes earlier, during half-time, I had hung a banner from the upper tier of the stand.

The banner was inspired by the cases of three other Walsall fans who have been banned from the stadium by the club in recent weeks for offences ranging from writing for an unofficial supporters’ website to, er, calling a local radio station’s football phone-in. Events began on Easter Monday, when a 2-1 win against Wycombe was briefly enlivened by the unfurling of a Cypriot flag bearing the legend “Pension Fund FC”…

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has targeted some “rich pickings” this summer in setting about reshaping his Saddlers squad. The League One club’s budget and attendances felt the full force of the economic down town over the last year, with chairman Jeff Bonser imposing an even tighter grip on the club’s spending.

But Hutchings is optimistic there will be plenty on offer, as other cash-conscious clubs release players they might otherwise keep due to reduced budgets.
