Jaguar Land Rover parent Tata Motors is in talks with a Chinese sport utility vehicle maker regarding a possible assembly agreement, reports have claimed.

Reuters said the Indian company was holding discussions with Great Wall Motor Co about the possibility of a tie-up.

The move, if confirmed, would tie in with recent speculation about Tata wanting a foothold in China…

Highcross has acquired the Maybrook Road industrial estate in Brownhills, for £6.075 million.

The 159,362 sq ft industrial estate, which includes 28 units, has been purchased from Croudace Properties. The property is part of a larger industrial area, and is located two miles from Junction T6 of the M6 toll and six miles from Junction 10 of the M6 motorway.

The units were built in the early 1980s and range from 2,254 sq ft to 28,126 sq ft on a 8.63 acre site. The estate is almost fully occupied, with only one 5,000 sq ft unit currently available…

Bevan Group severs link with repairs operation

Truck Engineering has been subject to a management buyout from Halesowen based Bevan Group for an undisclosed sum.

Bevan acquired a majority stake in Truck Engineering seven years ago, to handle major repair work that its own field engineers could not complete at customer locations.

Cooper Safety has stepped up its interest in Mount Engineering – owner of Darlaston’s Redapt Engineering – with an offer valuing the company at £19.23m.

The offer of 82p per share is 17% higher than the bid made by Wakefield-based engineering support services firm Redhall last week which valued the company at £16.4m.
