Freedom of speech on the Internet
‘Culture’ minister Ed Vaizey has announced support for a non-content-neutral Internet: essentially traffic shaping according to who you are and how much you pay, if you’re a content provider, like, say, the BBC or Google. This will give ISPs the freedom to charge more to some content suppliers, or indeed to throttle some.
How handy that will be for the likes of NewsCorp, able to price the publicly-funded BBC off the ‘net…
