Police negotiations with a man who was standing on railings on a bridge for about 29 hours have ended safely around 8:45pm on Thursday evening. Talks with the man on the bridge, above Paradise Circus, started at about 3:55pm on Wednesday.
Officers “seized an opportunity to intervene”, and arrested the man under the Public Nuisance Act, a spokeswoman said. The incident caused delays to motorists but several roads which were closed have now reopened…

Man threatens to jump off bridge
Commuters in Birmingham faced morning rush hour delays on Thursday – 16 hours after police were called to a report of a man standing on railings on a bridge.
The West Midlands force was called to the area around a bridge above Paradise Circus near Birmingham Central Library at about 1555 BST on Wednesday.
