Efforts are being made to help crack down on nuisance horses being left to graze illegally on local authority land.

Bosses at Walsall Council are investigating the possibility of using a specialist bailiff company and charging owners a fee to recover their animals.

If the horses are not claimed within a few weeks, the council could look to make arrangements for them to be sold…

Managers at Walsall and Dudley are to hold talks after a barrage of complaints about animals galloping on estate roads, holding up traffic, leaving manure in roads and gardens, and causing holes in playing fields.

Among those in difficulty during the cold weather was Barley, a 29-year-old Russian Draft horse.
