The friend of an Aldridge schoolgirl stabbed to death in Birmingham city centre has described the “nightmare” ordeal, nearly 10 years after the attack.

Rosie Ross, 16, was stabbed by a man with schizophrenia in an unprovoked attack in May 2001. Her friend Sarah Elstob, who had been shopping with her that day, described how they had both seen Rosie’s killer minutes before the attack.

The parents of a teenager killed on a shopping trip are staging a charity event to help other youngsters. Karen and Sean Ross created the Rosie’s Helping Hands charity nine years ago after their 16-year-old daughter Rosie Ross was stabbed to death while shopping in Birmingham in 2001.

To date they have raised £275,000 and hope to bolster that figure with a fashion show at the Compass Suites, in Aldridge, on Wednesday 21 April…
