The YamYam 30 Mar 10

Members from the West Midlands Tae Kwon Do club took part in the English National Championships in Telford on Sunday.

Months of intensive training bore fruit when students from Bewdley, Bloxwich, Dudley and Willenhall, including father and son team Brandon and Karl Gamble, took part in the prestigious event bringing back a haul of nine trophy’s to the West Midlands club.

Tae Kwon Do takes its influences from ancient Korean martial arts forms as well as many other martial arts including Japanese karate and it is characterised by fast, high and spinning kicks, and is now recognised as an official Olympic sport. It is a popular family sport for everyone to enjoy regardless of their age, gender or status, from children as young as 5 years to students in their 70’s, all getting as much enjoyment and fulfillment from the art as each other. Tae Kwon Do can help build self confidence, fight obesity and heart disease, improve co-ordination, as well as help self-defence and provide the opportunity to establish new friendships, travel and participate in competitions around the country.

West Midlands Tae Kwon Do is affiliated to the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) and has branches in Willenhall, Bloxwich, Dudley, Hagley and Kidderminster.
