National Express chairman in survival pledge

The chairman of beleaguered bus and train operator National Express has gone on record as saying the Birmingham-based group can survive as an independent company. With a number of potential buyers circling the debt-laden, loss-making company, John Devaney declared: “We don’t need to do a deal; our focus isn’t to do a deal.”
