MP calls for audit into Walsall Council cash blunder

Walsall North MP David Winnick has called for an investigation into Walsall Council’s failure to properly account for £2.5 million of European Union (EU) funding. An £80,000 investigation into the issue discovered the authority’s internal systems showed “a lack of a capacity and competence” and “poor levels of compliance with grant conditions”.
