Mark Lewis-Francis considered quitting athletics 12 months ago after injury left him sidelined for almost two years – but insists he’s now back to his best.

The 27-year-old, who won Olympic gold as part of the 4x100m relay squad in 2004, missed the whole of the 2008 season and the bulk of last year with an Achilles injury but after being named Birmingham skipper for next month’s Super8 athletics event – Lewis-Francis has rediscovered his passion…
