Darryl Westlake has his feet firmly on the ground after making a big impact in his first full season in Walsall’s senior squad. The 19-year-old right-back signed his first professional contract only a year ago and admits he was expecting the last 12 months to have been spent furthering his football education at reserve-team level.
He was cautiously optimistic that perhaps he might manage to steal one or two first-team outings along the way. But the campaign went on to far exceed his expectations…
