Centro’s Walsall boss quits
Walsall’s new mayor Gary Clarke is standing down as chair of Centro, the region’s passenger transport authority, after more than six years in the job. The likeable and approachable Clarke departs with a ringing endorsement from his Chief Executive Geoff Inskip – who “holds him in high regard” – but long-suffering passengers may be less charitable.
According to Inskip, his boss’s key achievments have been to oversee the £600million New Street Gateway project, and rolling out the Smartcard – the region’s equivalent of a London-style Oyster card…
