Birchills Maple Leaf workers face job losses in pay row
Workers at a Walsall bakery could begin losing their jobs next month if a row over new contracts is not resolved, it was claimed today.
Around 120 out of 200 workers at Maple Leaf in Walsall, are refusing to sign new contracts which reduce pay, holiday and overtime bonuses. Now the company, which makes Harvestime sliced bread at its Birchills base, has started putting employees on notice giving them a deadline to sign or be sacked.
