Asian women less likely to seek treatment for endometriosis
Women from certain ethnic minority communities are less likely to seek treatment for endometriosis, according to new research.
In the first study of its kind in the UK, women of African Caribbean, Chinese, Greek, Indian and Pakistani ethnic origin were asked about their experience of endometriosis and its treatment.
The study was undertaken by researchers from De Montfort University (DMU), Birmingham Women’s Hospital, Birmingham City University and Middlesex University.
Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells that line the womb are found elsewhere in the body.
